Baby Dahmer

We thought we'd send out a little update with our 20-week ultrasound pictures. As most of you know, this pregnancy has had some rough spots in it with some placental abruption (part of my placenta pulled away from the uterus wall, causing bleeding) and placenta previa (where the placenta is covering part of the cervix. This could result in a c-section because the baby needs to come out before the placenta.) We are happy to say that at this last ultrasound the placenta was no longer covering the cervix (no placenta previa) and there were no signs of my placental abruption. The baby is measuring great, has a great heartbeat, and is very active. I'm doing great now, too, especially knowing that he is doing so well. Yes, they cofirmed at least 5 more times that we are definitely having a boy. The last ultrasound picture we included is probably the best "boy" picture I've ever seen.:) Hopefully, he won't care too much when he's older.:) Thanks for everyone's prayers, concerns and help. The greatest blessings that have come through this experience is knowing that miracles do happen, that our Heavenly Father loves us and will always be there for us, and that he sends angels (all of you) to give us aid when we need it most.

My favorite picture of mom & me

Here's a little gem I found in our pictures the other day. This is one of my favorite pictures...I know you are all jealous.



To add some context, this picture was taken before Emma was born at Cassi's wedding. The location is the Gundersen home in Wenatchee. The "moment" that proceeded this picture is almost priceless. In speaking to the Gundersen's non-member neighbor, mom affirmed that Adolf Hitler was pardoned by the Mormon church because he gave all of his genealogy (he apparently had tons) to the church.

Another moment where an Alzheimer's bracelet would have come in handy. :)

I was 12 the last time...

...I had stitches. 12 stitches are laced into my right hand after opening up the furnace. To make a long story short, it's like a paper cut but with sheet metal. If the picture didn't gross you out, I'm sure the description did. For those in the military, the stitch is called a combat closer. My doctor was in the air force so he was pretty familiar with these types of "fixes". Nine days after the accident, I'll be stitch free.

Halloween at OMTR

So I wanted to post some of the pictures from Halloween at OMTR. In short, Halloween is very intense...there's not other way to describe it. Departments pick themes and decorate for an open house that family and friends of OMTR employees go through. It's amazing how the building transfers as Lynne can attest. All the pictures I'm showing are within my group's office space which consists of mostly cubes. Take a look and let me know what you think.

The department theme was Heros (Batman, X-Men, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) so we did a city called Gothtropolis. Here's the entrance sign under black lights.



As you enter the city, you see a couple of buildings with one of them on fire. This area is the center for about 6 cubes. Behind every building is a cube where someone works. People would walk through this area and pick up Candy.





The path leads to a secret lair in the city where the villains live. The pictures don't do this justice but this lair has a false roof at about 6'6". On the table are documents are how to beat the heros and on the computers at the cubes that you can't really see are screen savers from the Incredibles that show which heros are still alive.





After the lair, you head off to an alley in the city with gangster tags all over, a dead body outline, and a real pitbull dog for people to see. Seeing this with a flash doesn't do it justice so I have one of the tags in black light.





To give you an idea of what else took place, the Sales department brought in actual sod and laid a football field for a UofU vs. BYU football game. Cosmo and 2 BYU cheerleaders came by for pictures. There was an echanted forest, an entire McCain area (James would be proud), a miniuture putting course, a cowboy and wild west theme with straw everywhere, and the wizard of oz for the executives.

Happy Halloween!

What could be cuter than vampire babies?:) (Thanks, Michelle.) We've been having fun at our house making haunted gingerbread houses, trying on our new fairy wings, and pretending to be vampires. Just some good ol' Halloween fun!

As a side note, please take note of the Emma in the bottom center picture. This is her new favorite face. I think I got about 20 pictures with her making this face. The best is when she makes this face and does her pirate imitation. I'll see if I can get that on video sometime. Happy Halloween, everyone!

Wasps and Bees talk...and plan revenge together

Our garden this year hasn't been the most "fruitful" one. We planted Watermelons, Cucumbers (two different kinds), Pumpkins, and Tomatoes. We literally didn't harvest a single tomato the entire summer until a week or two ago. As we've heard from many, this year was NOT the year for tomatoes. What little we did get early on fell culprit to one of the 6 little hands in our home--but that was maybe just 1 or 2 tomatoes.

The watermelon turned out great--it was small but pretty tasty. The watermelon ended up being the pride of our garden.

Before I comment on the pumpkins and cucumbers, I want to warn everyone that 1) wasps hold grudges, 2) they communicate with bees, and 3) they plan revenge together. Last summer and this summer, I've had an on going war with the wasps that try to attach their homes to our home. Most of these wars start with me spraying their homes with a hose, then spraying them as they get near me, then spraying myself or kids around me because the wasp got too close, and then me really getting upset and making sure that wasp never returns. The last part has to do with me gunning the wasp down and giving it the nice stomp down.

The wasps had the last laugh this year since they persuaded the bees to demonstrate the power of cross-pollination with the cucumbers and the pumpkins. See the picture below. We officially have green pumpkins and orange cucumbers. Maybe we'll carve all of them for Halloween. Anyone for pumpbers and cucumkins?

TMP Pictures

Until today, we did not have a family picture with Ethan in it. Well, now that he is 15 months old, we thought it was about time. We had our pictures taken by Tiffany Moody...and they turned out soooooooooooooo cute! I'm only giving you a sampler, because there were too many to post them all. My favorite family picture is being saved for the annual Christmas Card, so that will just have to wait. (I know, the suspense is killing you!) But for now, enjoy these adorable pictures...I know we are!

Baby William Edmund Johnson

September 3, 2008 at 10:48 pm our 4th Grandbaby was born, William Edmund Johnson who weighed 7 lb 11 oz and I don't think we were ever told a length. He had a rough start, not breathing when he came out but to the help of the several of the doctors and nurses that came to his aid when the code blue was called he started to breath and is doing well. Will is home now with his Mom and Dad and eating and sleeping well. As you can see in the first pictures it was a bit of a hard day for Mom and Dad but they too are loving being home and resting with William. Jake had a couple of "close to passing out" moments and as you can see he had to be sat in a chair when he was in the nersery because the nurse had to put an IV in the baby's little arm and hand and that was a little much for the new Dad. We are so happy for them and are excited for you all to see him soon!
